Getting back on track!

I have been out of the loop for so long now. I haven't really made much jewelry lately but I plan to get back to it. I have been so busy with life. I just recently joined the Starving Jewelry Artists ETSY team (SATEAM). I'm hoping this will be my motivation. I also ordered a new kiln. I can't wait until it arrives and I can start adding color to my life.

I meant well...

I didn't quite get going on my byzantine this time. I still plan to work on it the next week or so. I cut some rings and they wound up being too big for the byzantine after I started working on it. I decided to try something different with the rings. I used the rings to make a European 6 in 1 bracelet. The rings are 4 mm and made from 20 ga wire. I made the clasp myself out of a vintage button that has been bezel set.

First challenge

I have done several simple chainmaille patterns but I have never tried byzantine. I am going to do that for my first experiment. Throughout this week I am going to make several different sizes and gauges and see what I like best. I will start it in copper and then move to sterling as I like the results. Stay tuned, I will post the results at the end of the week.

So it begins...

I have decided to create this blog to track my progress in jewelry making. There are so many things I want to learn how to do and I am so excited to start my journey. This is a journey of personal growth and discovery but you are welcome to come along for the ride. Anyone who wants to participate in my weekly challenges are welcome to join. At the beginning of the week I will decide what I want to learn for that week. When the week is up I will post pics of my progress. Hopefully, I will have at least somewhat mastered my task for that week.

I will be back Sunday with my first challenge.
